What is Raksha Bandhan?
Raksha Bandhan, usually known as “Rakhi” in short, is a festival celebrated by Hindus – and some Jains – all over the world.
It is celebrated on the full moon of the Hindu month ‘Shravana’.
In 2018, Raksha Bandhan is celebrated on Sunday 26 August 2018.
Rakhi is all about remembering love and responsibility between brothers and sisters, with the festival’s denotation as “bond of protection”.
Brothers and sisters spontaneously share gifts and take part in this ritual to mark their appreciation to each other.
As the element of this festival, sisters tie a sacred thread, “Rakhi”, on their brothers’ wrist to as a symbol of their love and best wishes.
The brother will give his sister a return gift and a promise to protect her anywhere and anytime.
Here are some ideas about return gifts for sisters.
